Domain Names: Clash between DNS and

national trade mark regime

• Disputes have arisen between Malaysian and foreign entities in connection with "orphan" names eg. Thrifty Rent-A-Car, Courts, Chase, K-Mart

• No legislation enacted in respect of domain names

• MYNIC, the ".my" country code level domain name registrar has NOT acceded to ICANN arbitration procedure
