Marc Pearl heads Shaw Pittman's technology policy practice and provides advocacy for electronic commerce and information technology companies on issues including information security, intellectual property, privacy, immigration policy, taxation, jurisdiction, and electronic signatures. He also provides IT policy/government relations support for a broad range of companies in the telecommunications, finance, health care, aviation, real estate, energy, insurance and nonprofit sectors.
Prior to joining Shaw Pittman, Mr. Pearl was Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and General Counsel of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), where he was responsible for implementing and directing the public policy and advocacy agenda one of the largest and most respected IT associations. During his tenure with ITAA, he led numerous domestic and global industry coalitions on IT legislative and regulatory proposals in the areas of ISP liability, year 2000, Internet security, foreign jurisdiction, and digital intellectual property rights.
Mr. Pearl was named one of the "Ten Leading IT Lobbyists" by Congressional Quarterly in 1999. He is a frequent speaker at conferences on electronic commerce and the Internet.
