Katsuhiro Iseki
Research Director
Electronic Commerce Promotion Council of Japan
Katsuhiro Iseki is a research director at the Electronic Commerce Promotion Council of Japan (ECOM). Since April 1998, he has been responsible for the Consumer Issues Working Group (WG) that studied issues related to online marks, which led to the launch of this system, the first in Japan. Another notable outcome was the ECOM Guidelines for Online Business? Building Confidence in B-to-C Electronic Commerce. This was an application of OECD guidelines to the legal system in Japan. His WG's major theme this year is Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for EC.
He was an active member of the Subcommittee on Internet Sales for a year and early this year he joined the Subcommittee on Deceptive Cyber Business Targeting Individuals and the Japanese Research Committee on International Standardization for Consumer Protection. The first two committees serve under the Industrial Structure Council of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. He is also a frequent speaker at domestic and international conferences on consumer protection issues.
Before joining ECOM he was involved in developing of a payment network system as Assistant General Manager of the Emerging Markets Department, SUMITOMO CREDIT SERVICE CO., LTD, where he has been employed from 1995 to the present.
From 1983 to 1995, he worked to develop a system affiliated to the international brand credit card system for the Information System Department, Tokyu Department Store.
Katsuhiro Iseki graduated from the Department of Science and Engineering, Aoyama Gakuin University in 1983.
