Emilios Avgouleas read law at the University of Athens and the London School of Economics where he obtained an LL.M in Banking and Finance Law and completed a PhD on the Regulation of Financial Market Fraud and Manipulation. He is currently a Lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester (on leave) and works as a senior associate at the Financial Markets Group of Linklaters, Linklaters & Alliance. He worked previously as an associate at the department of e-commerce, financial markets and institutions Group of Clifford Chance in London. He practices in the area of EU Capital Markets with particular specialisation on electronic exchanges and Internet banking. He has been involved in some of the biggest financial services e-commerce projects. His main academic research interests are in Financial Market Regulation, Law and Economics and EC Financial Services law. He lectures on EC Financial Services Law, Financial Market Regulation and Law and Economics, and Corporate Governance for the European and International Business Law LL.Ms and the European LL.M in Law and Economics.
Between 1996 and 1998 he taught at the London School of Economics EC Competition Law for the University of London's LL.M, and English Contract and Company Law for the LL.B. He has published in several Corporate and European Law Journals in the area of EC Financial Services Law, Financial Market Regulation and Law and Economics. His book on the regulation of market manipulation will be published by Oxford University Press in the Summer of 2001.
