Chris Reed
Head of the IT Law Unit
Queen Mary's College and University
Chris Reed is Reader in Information Technology Law and Head of the
Information Technology Law Unit at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies,
Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. He joined the
Centre in 1987 and is responsible for the University of London LLM courses
in Information Technology Law, Internet Law, Electronic Banking Law and
Telecommunications Law.
Chris has published widely on many aspects of computer law; he is the
editor and part author of Computer Law (3rd ed. Blackstone Press
1996) and the author of Electronic Finance Law (Woodhead Faulkner
1991) and Digital Information Law: electronic documents and
requirements of form (Centre for Commercial Law Studies 1996).
Research for which he was responsible led to the EC directives on
electronic signatures and on electronic commerce.
Chris is consultant to the City of London law firm Arnheim Tite &
Lewis, a correspondent law firm of Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Since 1997 he
has been Joint Chairman of the Society for Computers and Law. From October
1997 to March 1998 he acted as Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords
Select Committee on Science and Technology. He acted as an Expert at the
European Commission/Danish Government Copenhagen Hearing on Digital
Signatures, and has been an invited speaker at OECD and G8 international
conferences.
