Laurie L. Labuda
OECD Committee on Consumer Policy
Laurie Labuda is a Consultant in the Directorate for Science Technology
and Industry at the OECD and serves as the principal administrator to the
Committee on Consumer Policy. She has worked with the Committee since the
Fall of 1997, and participated in the preparation for the OECD Ministerial
Conference -- A Borderless World: Realising The Potential Of Global
Electronic Commerce held in Ottawa, Canada in October 1998, including
the drafting of the Declaration on Consumer Protection in the Context of
Electronic Commerce endorsed by Ministers at the meeting. Following on
the Ministerial, the work of the Committee has focused on electronic
commerce and the development of draft Guidelines for Consumer Protection in
the Context of Electronic Commerce. Prior to joining the OECD, Ms. Labuda
was Special Assistant to Commissioner Christine Varney at the US Federal
Trade Commission, where her work focused on consumer protection and privacy
issues. Ms. Labuda also served in the Clinton Administration as the Staff
Director for the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs.
