Peter Cobb

Mr. Cobb is a graduate of Pomona College (1965) and Columbia Law School
(1979) where he was an Editor of the Law Review and recipient of the John
Ordronaux Prize for academic excellence. He also holds a Ph.D. in
Mathematics from the City University of New York (1972). He is a member of
the American Bar Association, Section on Taxation and the New York Bar
Association, Section on Taxation, where he is a member of the Executive
Committee.
Mr. Cobb joined Fried, Frank as an associate in the tax department of its
New York office upon his graduation from law school in 1979 and became a
partner in 1984. In 1991, he left the firm to take the position of Business
Tax Counsel to the Joint Committee on Taxation of the United States
Congress, becoming Deputy Chief of Staff in 1993 and acting Chief of Staff
in 1994. He returned to practice at Fried, Frank in mid-1994.
As a tax lawyer, Mr. Cobb has specialized in transactional tax planning,
particularly in the area of mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy, and
complex real estate and financial transactions.
