Mark Bohannon
Chief Counsel for Technology
US Department of Commerce
As Chief Counsel for Technology, and as Counsellor to the Under
Secretary, at the Department of Commerce, Mark Bohannon provides legal
advice and works on a variety of strategic policy initiatives affecting
technology development, intellectual property and competitive trade issues.
In the area of electronic commerce, Mr. Bohannon serves on the
Department's team that seeks to implement the goals of the President's
Framework for Global Electronic Commerce. He brings a perspective
of both law and technology to the achievement of these goals, and is
responsible for efforts underway in the area of commercial law, including
issues related to authentication, in international forums like the UN
Committee on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD), and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
Forum (APEC), as well as regional efforts like those of the European Union.
He is a graduate of the Foreign Service School at Georgetown University,
and the George Washington University Law School.
