Ms Nairn is Head of International Arbitration at the international law firm Simmons & Simmons and has been based in their London office since 1991. She practises primarily in international arbitration and commercial litigation, acting for governments and corporations in a range of industry sectors including finance and banking, commodities, technology, pharmaceuticals and energy. She has specialist expertise in handling the jurisdictional and applicable law difficulties that can arise in cross-border disputes, particularly in relation to internet transactions.

From 1985 to 1990, Ms Nairn practised at Michell Sillar McPhee Meyer in Australia. In 1990, she was also a Tutor in legal procedure and administrative law at the Law School of the University of Western Australia. Ms Nairn moved to London at the end of 1990 where she completed a Master of Laws degree at the London School of Economics specialising in the conflicts of laws and international arbitration.

Ms Nairn joined Simmons & Simmons in 1991 and became a partner in 1996. She has been Head of the firm's International Arbitration Group (comprising 42 lawyers worldwide) since 1996.

She is Editor of the firm's quarterly International Arbitration Newsletter and is an annual Lecturer in international arbitration for the McGeorge School of Law Masters Programme at Salzburg University.

Ms Nairn has published widely on international law and arbitration and has presented and chaired seminars and training sessions on international arbitration, public international law and the conflict of laws in Europe, the Middle East and the United States (including presentations for the London Court of International Arbitration, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Practising Law Institute).

Currently, Ms Nairn sits as the alternate member for Australia on the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris and is also a member of the ICC Commission on International Arbitration.

Ms Nairn is a Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London.
