John Makaryshyn manages emerging legal policy issues at TELUS Corporation. John is TELUS' representative to a number of associations dealing with telecommunications and international business and legal policy issues including the Canadian Council of International Business, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the Information Technology Association of Canada. John has also worked as Legal Counsel with TELUS specializing in corporate law and telecommunications regulation and, prior to joining TELUS in 1991, was in private practice with McCarthy Tetrault in Vancouver British Columbia.
John received his Bachelor of Commerce, and Law Degree from the University of Alberta, and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Queen's University. John is also a lecturer at the University of Alberta for the Faculty of Law and the Facility of Business covering telecommunications and broadcasting legal issues, is an active member of the Law Society of Alberta and British Columbia, and is the Past Vice-Chair of the Edmonton John Howard Society.
