Ilias Chantzos

Ilias Chantzos is Auxiliary Administrator for the European Commission, DG Information Society, and as such is responsible for Internet-related services. He is most actively involved in the EC in the area of computer crime and information security. Relevant activities include the Council of Europe Cybercrime Convention, the work of the G8 high-tech crime group, the EU Cybercrime Forum and the proposed Framework Decision on attacks against information systems. He has participated in several international fora, seminars and workshops on information security and cybercrime topics.

Mr. Chantzos is an attorney at law and a member of the Athens Bar Association. Before joining the EC, he practiced law providing expert advice in several IT and telecommunication companies. He also worked at the law firm Gregoriou in Athens, focusing on Greek and EU IT and telecommunications law. Previously, he also worked in the legal department of the Greek Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr. Chantzos received a law degree from the University of Thessaloniki, an Erasmus certificate from the University of Maastricht and a Masters' Degree in Computer and Communications Law from the University of London. He is also a PhD candidate of the University of Athens.
